What does a website revamp cost in Malaysia?
You already have a website. It looks tired, it's awkward on a phone, and you can't remember who built it. Before you accept a revamp quote, it's worth knowing what the word actually covers — because "revamp" is the vaguest word in this industry, and vague words are expensive.
What "website revamp" actually means
Three words get used interchangeably and shouldn't be:
- Revamp — rework what's there. New layout, new copy, new photos, same platform, same domain. The bones stay.
- Redesign — change how it looks. Often just a theme and a colour palette. Cheapest, and frequently what you get when you asked for a revamp.
- Rebuild — replace it. New site, new code, content carried over. Costs the same as a new website, because it is one.
Ask any quote which of the three it is. If the answer is a paragraph rather than a word, that's information too.
What it costs here
- Cosmetic refresh, freelancer — RM 800–RM 2,000. New theme, tidied text, better photos. Fast, and it does not fix anything structural.
- Agency revamp — RM 3,000–RM 8,000. New sitemap, rewritten copy, proper mobile layout, sometimes SEO work. Weeks, and usually a deposit up front.
- Full rebuild — RM 2,000–RM 5,000 and up, same as a new site.
- Ongoing, whichever route — RM 300–RM 800 a year for domain and hosting. This never goes away, and it is the line most quotes leave out.
The most common bad outcome isn't overpaying for a revamp. It's paying RM 3,000 to repaint a site that still can't be edited, still isn't mobile-friendly, and still belongs to a developer who stopped answering messages in 2023.
Revamp or rebuild? Five questions
If you answer yes to two or more, you're looking at a rebuild, and a revamp quote is money spent twice:
- Is it awkward or broken on a phone?
- Can you change your own opening hours and prices, without emailing anyone?
- Does anyone still have the hosting and domain logins?
- Does it take more than three seconds to load?
- Is the person who built it still reachable?
The third one catches more Malaysian SMEs than the rest combined. A site nobody can log into isn't an asset — it's a hostage.
The awkward part: you're buying blind again
Here's what makes a revamp harder to commit to than a first website. You already paid once, and what you got is the thing you're now trying to replace. So you're being asked to trust the same process, with the same deposit-first shape, on the strength of the same kind of promise.
That's the part we flipped. Send us the URL of your current site. We rebuild it at our cost and put the new version on a private link. You open both in two browser tabs and decide with your eyes rather than a mockup.
- No deposit, no scoping fee, no hourly billing during the build.
- If the new one isn't clearly better, say so and walk away — there was never an invoice.
- If it is, we put it live on your domain: RM 188 a year, free .com included, or RM 500 for three years.
Common and fixable. We can rebuild from what's publicly visible — your existing pages, your Google listing, your photos — without touching the old hosting at all. You'll need control of the domain to go live, and if that's also lost, tell us early: recovering a domain takes longer than building the site.
What about migration and maintenance?
Two things people search for alongside a revamp. Migration is moving an existing site to different hosting — worth doing on its own only if the current host is the actual problem. Maintenance is the part that decides whether the revamp still looks good in two years: someone has to change the hours, swap the raya promo, and renew the certificate. On our annual plan that's included, and you can make the edits yourself with rollback if you'd rather not wait for us.
Send us the URL. See the new one first.
We rebuild your existing site free and give you a private link to compare against the old one. Pay only if you decide to deploy it.
